GoPro 4 SD Card Recommendations

GoPro 4 Banner
We have been using GoPro cameras since they first launched the GoPro Hero 35mm in 2005 and we have tried and tested nearly all the range now over the years.

GoPro cameras are simply great for many reasons but you must remember that this amazing quality is only possible if you invest in the correct memory cards and since the release of the GoPro 4 Black recording in 4K it is now more important than ever to ensure you do not cut costs on the memory cards.

The GoPro HERO4 Black Edition has a 12mp CMOS with a f/2.8 fixed maximum aperture and is capable of the most amazing footage we have seen yet and for such a small camera that can be placed anywhere it has to be the best piece of filming equipment around for specific jobs and we trust the GoPro 4 for jobs such as motorsport filming and drone, quad or multicopter work.

When it comes to SD Card Recommendations for a GoPro we would always look at the manufacturer for advice due to the fact that they would be testing the product using memory cards of various brands and this saves us the time and effort.

HERO4 Black & Silver SD Card Recommendations

For the HERO 4 Black a Class 10 MicroSD card is used and the this will take up to 64 GB.

It is important to note that not all Class 10 microSD cards will have the same data write speeds and this is the most important things to consider with 4 Black due to the higher bit rate capabilities that are required to support the new features of  the HERO4 camera.

The official SD card recommendations that we have used are:-

•SanDisk Extreme 32GB microSDHC (SDSDQXL-032G) costing between £18.99 to £36.22
•SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSDXC (SDSDQXL-064G) costing between £40.14 to £67.99

The other official recommendations include:

•Lexar 32GB SDHC 633x (LSDMI32GBBNL633R)
•Lexar 64GB SDXC 633x (LSDMI64GBBNL633R)
