In 2001 when Chameleon was formed the company logo had an unclear path. The shapes of Chameleon’s was the key focal point in the design aspect and concept of forcing in the outline seemed a good idea back then.
Over the years the branding has changed and been tweaked as with all logos and today in 2018 less is more in the design world.
Looking at the Big brands to see how they have changed it is clear that nearly all branding is now more subtle and simple in a world that is more adventurous and out there than ever before.
It is interesting to look at the changes and how the big brands have changed to less is more and kept with things since for much longer and any new logo changes are very subtle to the previous version.
As a web company that has been building websites since 2001 – 17 years we have seen it all and this has helped grow our experience and knowledge.
Today when a client comes in the office we are building websites now for a desktop, mobile and tablet which means effectively we are building 3 websites. With each new company or rebrand the logo design is also something we have to look at to ensure it works on all devices.
Websites Have Also Changed Since 2001
When Chameleon was formed in 2001 the Internet was a very different place. What is a crazy to statement to think about is that also in 2001, the majority of Americans and British people didn’t even have the Internet.
To connect to the Internet people used dial up connections and websites needed to be very simple so that the data could be passed to the computer using the least amount of data possible.
For example, the BBC website in 2001 just looks so wrong. You would not look at this in 2018 and trust it which shows how different the Internet has become.
If you look 4 years on in 2005 the BBC website had become more colourful and improved but still was very basic:-
And if you jump even further forwards to 2011 the BBC website changes become more apparent but still, the website is very basic. The main difference now being more images related and the content is simpler to navigate. The website is now in a framed central box element also:-
With these fundemental changes it is clear to see that even in 2011 the Internet was still changing a lot to what it is today in 2018.
