DVD drive not detected

If your DVD drive is not found in Windows 7 you can try a regedit fix.

  • Go to START
  • RUN
  • REGEDIT
  • Browse for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  • Delete both UpperFilters and LowerFilters

Try a reboot and see if the DVD drive now appears.

If this doesnt work you can

  • Start
  • Disk Management
  • Select “Create and format hard disk partitions”
  • Right-click optical drive
  • Select “Change Drive Letter and Paths”
  • Select “Change”
  • Choose a new drive letter.
  • Reboot and it should appear.
